Rashid Khan’s all-round brilliance helps Afghanistan beat Ireland in Twenty20

Afghanistan’s star leg-spinner Rashid Khan produced another match-winning performance as his team beat Ireland by 42 runs in a Twenty20 international in Bready on Tuesday, August 16.

Khan took 3-22 with his leg-spin to restrict Ireland to 140-8 in reply to Afghanistan's 182-6.

He then hit an unbeaten 29 off 13 balls to help Afghanistan reach a challenging total.

Khan was ably supported by opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who made 42 off 28 balls, and Najibullah Zadran, who hit 36 off 22.

For Ireland, Curtis Campher top-scored with 39 off 29 balls, while George Dockrell took 2-28.

The victory was Afghanistan's second in as many matches against Ireland, having won the first game by 17 runs on Sunday.

The two teams will now meet in the third and final Twenty20 international on Thursday, August 18, before Afghanistan travel to Scotland for a three-match series.
