Astros Win 6-3, Royals Lose Fourth Straight

Late rally from Houston ends Royals win streak

Harrison Bader, Andrew Benintendi homer for Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Houston Astros scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning and held on to defeat the Kansas City Royals 6-3 Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium. The Royals (17-17) had won three straight games before Tuesday's loss. The Astros (27-10) have won five of their last six games. Royals left-hander Kris Bubic allowed three runs on five hits and three walks in 4 1/3 innings. He struck out four. Astros starter Luis Garcia allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out six. The Royals took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a home run by Harrison Bader. Andrew Benintendi made it 2-0 with a solo homer in the second. The Astros tied the game in the third on a two-run single by Yordan Alvarez. They took a 3-2 lead in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Chas McCormick. The Royals tied the game in the sixth on an RBI single by Bobby Witt Jr. The Astros took the lead for good in the eighth on a two-run double by Kyle Tucker. Martin Maldonado added an RBI single later in the inning. Astros reliever Rafael Montero (2-0) got the win. Royals reliever Scott Barlow (2-1) took the loss. The Astros and Royals will play the second game of their three-game series Wednesday night at Kauffman Stadium.
