Sancho Suffers Setback After Return
Dortmund's Jadon Sancho has suffered another injury setback, just weeks after returning from a long-term absence.
The 23-year-old winger was forced off the pitch during Borussia Dortmund's 2-0 victory over Eindhoven on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Sancho had given the German giants the lead in the match but was replaced by Thorgan Hazard after just 35 minutes.
Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl confirmed after the game that Sancho had sustained a muscle injury and would undergo further tests to determine the extent of the damage.
This latest setback is a major blow for Sancho and Dortmund, who have been struggling for form in recent weeks. The England international had only just returned to action in January after missing several months with a hamstring injury.
Sancho's injury is also a concern for the English national team ahead of the 2024 European Championship. Gareth Southgate's side will be hoping that the winger can regain his fitness in time for the tournament, which begins in June.
